Welcome to the second post in my Travel Tuesday series. In my last edition I highlighted the first two days of my Europe trip that I spent in Rome before travelling to Florence. Click here if you missed my Rome action!
Day 3
The trip to Florence through Tuscany is not one you want to sleep through (even if you did dance the night away in Rome the night before!) Tuscany is utterly romantic with its dreamy, tree-studded hills and picturesque views. Below is a photo I took from the bus on our journey. Stunning, right? How could anyone possibly sleep through that?!
The road to Florence included a stop in San Gimignano, a scenic, medieval hill town in Siena, Tuscany. The “Historic Centre of San Gimignano” is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known as The Town of Fine Towers. Many towns, such as Florence, lost their beautiful stone towers during the wars. San Gimignano is known internationally for conserving 14 of its towers. And the views, oh the views! The landscape surrounding San Gimignano is world renowned. I was only in the town for just over an hour, but it was enough to leave a lasting impression.
Welcome to San Gimignano!
